Branding the Craft, Packaging the Pride;Capacity Building Programme under RAMP Scheme Empowers Handloom & Handicraft Artisans in Kishtwar

Under the directions of the Director, Handloom and Handicrafts Jammu, Sh. Mohammad Nazir Sheikh, JKAS and the Joint Director, Handloom and Handicrafts Jammu, the Department of Handloom and Handicrafts, Kishtwar, with the active support of the District Administration Kishtwar, today organized a one-day Capacity Building Training Programme on Branding and Packaging of Handloom and Handicrafts Products under the RAMP Scheme (Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance), Ministry of Textiles, Government of India.
The programme was held at the Conference Hall, DC Office Complex, Kishtwar, under the supervision of Shri Pardeep Shan (JKAS), Assistant Director, Handloom and Handicrafts, Kishtwar.
The event was graced by Shri Pankaj Kumar Sharma (JKAS), Deputy Commissioner, Kishtwar, as the Chief Guest, while Shri Pawan Kotwal (JKAS), Additional Deputy Commissioner, Kishtwar Sh. Pawan Kotwal (JKAS), attended as the Guest of Honour.
Two Assistant Professors from NIFT Srinagar served as Resource Persons and delivered insightful sessions highlighting the critical role of branding and packaging in the effective marketing of handloom and handicrafts products.
The sessions included practical demonstrations, real-life examples, and video presentations, focusing on branding strategies, product promotion, and innovative packaging techniques for local crafts.
Addressing the gathering, the Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar sensitized artisans and weavers on the growing importance of branding and packaging in today’s competitive market. He urged participants to adopt modern branding and packaging practices to enhance visibility, promotion, and sales of local handloom and handicrafts products.
The Additional Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar also emphasized that effective branding and attractive packaging significantly improve product appeal and customer attraction, thereby creating better market opportunities for local artisans.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks presented by the Assistant Director, Handloom and Handicrafts, Kishtwar, who expressed gratitude to the NIFT Srinagar team, District Administration, and all stakeholders for their valuable support and participation.
The training programme witnessed active participation from AHTOs, Instructors,and other Staff staff of the Handloom and Handicrafts Department, trainees from departmental training centres and R&R Plan, artisans,weavers from Industrial Cooperative Societies, Karkhandar units, and other stakeholders.
