Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kishtwar Sh. Pankaj Kumar Sharma(JKAS), today chaired a meeting of Agriculture and Allied Departments to review the preparedness and formulate a comprehensive Six-Year Action Plan under the Pradhan Mantri Dhan Dhaannya Krishi Vikas Yojana (PMDDKY).
During the meeting, the DC emphasized the need for a coordinated, integrated, and outcome-oriented approach among all stakeholder departments to ensure sustainable agricultural growth, enhanced productivity, and improved livelihoods across the district.
He directed the concerned officers to identify key interventions and flagship projects aligned with local agro-climatic conditions that can deliver tangible benefits to farmers and rural communities over the next six years.
The DC further called for the inclusion of innovative and climate-resilient initiatives such as the promotion of high-yield and climate-resilient crops, adoption of efficient irrigation and water management practices, strengthening of livestock and fisheries development, and value addition through cooperatives and self-help groups (SHGs).
He also stressed the need to leverage technology-driven solutions and convergence-based planning to ensure holistic and sustainable growth of the agriculture and allied sectors in the district.
Officers from various departments presented their respective proposals and shared insights for an integrated development strategy aimed at strengthening the agricultural ecosystem of Kishtwar.
The DC directed all heads of the concerned line departments to finalize and submit detailed action plans by November 1, 2025, enabling the district to forward a consolidated 6-Year Comprehensive Plan to higher authorities for approval.
It is pertinent to mention that District Kishtwar has been designated as an Aspirational Agriculture District under the PM Dhan Dhaannya Krishi Vikas Yojana (PMDDKY) by the Government of India.
Kishtwar is among 100 districts selected nationwide from over 800 districts based on key indicators such as low crop productivity, low cropping intensity, and limited short-term agricultural credit disbursement.
The meeting was attended by ADC Kishtwar Sh. Pankaj Kotwal(JKAS), PO ICDS Kishtwar Rishi Kumar Sharma, CPO Kishtwar Akhil Thakur, DFO Marwah Vishal Chaudhary, DFO Kishtwar, CAO Kishtwar Kushal Chandel, CHO Kishtwar Sajid Mustafa, ExEn Jal Shakti Kishtwar Sanjeev Kumar Gupta, LDM Kishtwar Harsh Rawal, DSHO Kishtwar, Dy. CMO Kishtwar Masood Ahmed Qazi along with other concerned officials.
