Day 3 of Week-long Kishtwar Youth Festival:Mission Youth J&K, District Administration & YSS Department Kishtwar organises "Marathon" at Kishtwar



_About 400 sports lovers and athletes among others from Jammu Division took part in the Marathon; Cash Prizes worth Rs 20,000,Rs 10,000 and Rs 5,000 given away to Winner, 1st & 2nd Runner ups_



_During the two Days  "Cricket Trial & Coaching Session",50 young cricketers were identified with significant potential,Some will be  sent for formal cricket coaching in academies by District administration, informed DC Kishtwar on the occasion_

As a part of the week-long Kishtwar "Youth Festival" Celebrations for the revitalisation of Youth Clubs in the district Kishtwar under the umbrella of Mission Youth  Initiative, a series of sports hunt Activities are being hosted by District Administration Kishtwar in collaboration with other stakeholders in the District for identification and grooming of sports talent of Youth of Kishtwar.


On the third day of festival, Mission Youth J&K in collaboration with District Administration  Kishtwar and Department of Youth Services and Sport Kishtwar today organised "Kishtwar Marathon" here at District Headquarter Kishtwar wherein about 400 sports lovers and athletes besides students hailing from Kishtwar &  various other districts of Jammu Division took part with great enthusiasm and passion. 


The Fraternity of Sports Department under the guidance of District Youth Services and Sports Officer Kharati Lal Sharma conducted the assignment of officiating the Marathon Race for persons with all walks of life of All Age Groups.


The Marathon was flagged off by the Chief Guest, Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar Dr. Devansh Yadav (IAS) in the presence of DySP Dr Zai-Ul- Haq, DYSSO Kishtwar, staff and participants here from Dak Banglow Kishtwar.


The 8 Km marathon was tracked on the Kishtwar -Paddar National Highway passing through Kokila Chowk Kuleed and Zellna village and then passing through Sangrambhatta village via Butt Petrol Pump morh and finally culminated at Airport end of Chowgan ground after passing SSP Office and TRC road Kishtwar.


Ravi Dass from Udhampur  won the Marathon by completing the distance in 18:18  minutes, while Ritik Sharma of Kathua and  Akshey Sharma of Udhampur crossed the finishing line with the timing 19:19 and 21:11 minutes and were announced as 1st runner up and 2nd runner up , respectively.


Among girls, Supriya Shan, Priya Rani, Anisa, Anjali and Kum Kum Parihar besides a total of 200 participants including Kids and others completed the marathon successfully . 


Chief Guest gave away Cash Prizes of Rs 20,000 to winner,Rs 10,000 to 1st Runner up and 5,000 to 2nd Runner up in presence of DYSSO K L Sharma , DySP Dr Zai-Ul- Haq & others.


DC Kishtwar also encouraged the Girl participants and the School Kids who participated and completed marathon successfully by extending words of appreciation for their courage and passion.


Speaking on the occasion, the DC Kishtwar made the participants aware about the importance of taking part in games for mental and physical fitness.


While highlighting the significance of "Fit India"  & "Say No to Drugs"  campaign ,he said that Sports help us to identify our inborn talent & capabilities. He advised the students to stay away from drugs and informed the Youth that administration  will help them by behavioural counselling & medication.


Pertinent to mention that the weeklong Youth festival in district Kishtwar is full of various revitalization activities for Youth Clubs and the opportunity to participate has been thrown  open for all by District Administration Kishtwar. 


Meanwhile the Two days "Cricket Trials and Coaching session" scheduled on 19th & 20th March 2023 under rolled out Youth Festival concluded under mentorship of J&K Ranji team including Akash Choudhary ,Sunny Verma and Shubham Khajuria wherein  over 50 young cricketers have been identified with significant potential.


"Few of them will be sponsored and sent for formal cricket coaching in academies in the coming days by District administration Kishtwar",the informed DC Kishtwar on the occasion.
