Daughter of Soil, Miss Sheetal Devi, From Lohidhar, Block Mughal Maidan brought laurels to the District Kishtwar; Receives Prestigious Arjuna Award 2023 for Para Archery Achievements

Today marks a historic and prideful moment for District Kishtwar as Miss Sheetal Devi daughter of Mann Singh (father), Shakti Devi (mother),a resilient and determined resident from the humble hamlet of Lohi Dhar, Block Mughal Maidan, has been honored with the Arjuna Award 2023 for her exceptional achievements in Para Archery.
This monumental feat not only brings immense pride to her family and district but also resonates as a source of honor for the entire Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir and the nation at large.
Despite being born with congenital disability, without arms, 16-year-old Sheetal Devi has inscribed her name in the annals of archery history for the district and the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. Her unwavering determination, particularly stemming from a modest background, led her to overcome numerous obstacles on her journey to this prestigious award.
Her accolades include three gold medals and one silver medal achieved at the 4th Para Asian Games held in Hangzhou, China, in 2023. Additionally, she secured a silver medal in the World Para Archery Championship held in Pilsen, Czech Republic, also in 2023.
The people of Jammu and Kashmir, alongside her native district witnessed this honoring ceremony of her receipt of the Arjuna Award,here from Rashtrapati Bhawan today.
Following the announcement of awards, the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha had greeted her in his post on ‘X’ (formerly called Twitter) and described it as a proud moment for J&K.
Earlier this year, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has also honored the Para Archers Para Archers Ms Sheetal Devi at Raj Bhawan with Certificate of Excellence.
