DC Kishtwar Addresses Public Grievances at Marwah Block Diwas

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kishtwar, Sh. Rajesh Kumar Shavan, JKAS, recently conducted a Block Diwas at the remote Marwah Sub-Division as part of the District Administration's public outreach program. The event aimed to address public grievances and assess developmental needs in the area.
Addressing Key Issues in Marwah
A significant number of local residents, including prominent citizens, participated in the Block Diwas, raising concerns about various issues impacting their daily lives. Key areas of focus included:
Infrastructure Development: Discussions centered around the need for improved infrastructure, particularly fair-weather roads, which pose significant challenges for connectivity.
Healthcare Access: Participants highlighted the importance of better healthcare services, including addressing staff shortages and improving the availability of essential medical resources.
Road Connectivity and Transportation: The lack of reliable road connectivity and adequate public transport options were major concerns raised by the community.
Communication Networks: Improving communication networks, including mobile connectivity, was identified as crucial for the region's development.
Electricity Supply: Ensuring a stable and consistent electricity supply was also a key demand from the residents.
On-the-Spot Resolutions and Directives
DC Shavan listened attentively to the grievances presented and took immediate action on several issues. He issued on-the-spot resolutions for certain problems and directed the concerned officers to ensure prompt redressal of the remaining matters. The DC emphasized his commitment to streamlining the functioning of government offices in Marwah and promised strict action against negligent officials. He also addressed the issue of staff shortages by assuring the public that necessary steps would be taken to rectify the situation.
Focus on Road Connectivity and Development
The DC issued specific instructions to SDM Marwah to rigorously monitor the punctuality of government employees. Recognizing the critical importance of road infrastructure, he directed the Executive Engineer (XEn) of PMGSY to expedite road construction projects in the region and ensure their timely completion. He reiterated the administration's focus on improving both road and mobile connectivity, promising that all necessary measures would be taken to enhance these essential services.
Community Initiatives and Social Issues
The Block Diwas also served as a platform for addressing social issues. Participants took a pledge against drug abuse and criminal activities, underscoring the community's commitment to a safer society. Responding to a request from young women, the DC issued immediate instructions for the establishment of skill development training centers in Marwah.
Addressing Welfare Schemes and Green Initiatives
Discussions also touched upon the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) survey, with the DC directing the Block Development Officer (BDO) to ensure that no eligible person is excluded from the survey. Regarding Below Poverty Line (BPL) ration cards, the DC instructed the Assistant Director of FCS&CA to include eligible individuals, such as daily-rated and casual laborers, who meet the income criteria.
Demonstrating a commitment to environmental sustainability, the DC planted a sapling in the SDM office premises as part of the Green India Initiative. He directed the Forest Department to launch a large-scale plantation drive in the subdivision. Following recent fire incidents, the DC instructed officials to investigate the causes and take stringent action if any negligence is found.
