Kishtwar, Jammu and Kashmir – April 17, 2025 – Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kishtwar, Sh. Rajesh Kumar Shavan (JKAS), today chaired a crucial review meeting to evaluate the advancement and execution of the Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana in the Kishtwar district.
The Executive Engineer of Jammu Power Distribution Corporation Limited (JPDCL) Kishtwar provided a detailed briefing to the Deputy Commissioner on the present stage of application submissions and consumer enrollments under this significant solar energy initiative.
Upon assessing the current progress, DC Kishtwar issued directives to all Drawing and Disbursing Officers (DDOs) across various government departments within the district. He emphasized the need for proactive and widespread public outreach to promote the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana throughout Kishtwar.
Highlighting the significance of citizen registrations and their seamless integration with banking institutions for accessing loan facilities, the Deputy Commissioner stressed the importance of achieving tangible outcomes. He also indicated that instances of slow progress would be closely monitored.
Furthermore, the DC instructed the Executive Engineer of the Power Development Department (PDD) to disseminate a comprehensive, step-by-step guide outlining the entire process of the scheme. This includes registration procedures, vendor selection, bank account linking, and the final stages of solar panel installation and commissioning.
In a direct appeal to the residents of Kishtwar, Sh. Rajesh Kumar Shavan urged active participation in and maximum utilization of the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana. He underscored the scheme's objective of delivering free electricity through solar power, thereby fostering the adoption of clean and sustainable energy solutions within the district.
The review meeting witnessed the presence of key officials, including Chief Planning Officer (CPO) Kishtwar Shahnawaz Bali, Assistant Commissioner Revenue (ACR) Kishtwar Idrees Lone, Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Marwah Mohd. Ashraf, SDM Chatroo Nayeem Ur Rahman, District Social Welfare Officer (DSWO) Kishtwar Zubair Ahmed, Deputy Registrar Cooperative/Executive Officer (EO) Municipality Mirza Mumtaz Iqbal, Assistant Director Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs (AD FCS&CA) Kishtwar Shafqat Ali Keen, Executive Engineer (Ex. En) JPDCL Kishtwar Er. Latif Wani, alongside other senior officers and staff members from various district departments and JPDCL Kishtwar.
