ACR Kishtwar leads the joint Market Checking to ensure the Quality and Price Control during holy month Ramadan at Kishtwar

In view of the forthcoming holy month of Ramadan, the District Administration Kishtwar undertook a collaborative market inspection at various locations in the town of Kishtwar.
Led by Assistant Commissioner Revenue Kishtwar, Idrees Lone (JKAS), the joint inspection team comprised officers from diverse departments, including Dy SP Hqr Dr Ishan Gupta, NT Kishtwar and representatives from Revenue, FCS&CA, Legal Metrology, Food Safety, Municipal Council, and other relevant authorities.
The comprehensive inspection targeted establishments such as vegetable and dairy shops, chicken and mutton vendors, sweet and other edible stores from Dak Banglow Kishtwar to Main Bus Stand with a focus on maintaining quality standards and enforcing price controls for the benefit of consumers during the holy month of Ramadan.
During the inspection, fines were imposed on several shopkeepers found violating legal regulations, and contaminated vegetables and spices were promptly destroyed. The team also confiscated a significant amount of polythene from some vendors while scrutinizing various other essential commodities.
Addressing the occasion, ACR Kishtwar emphasized the routine nature of such drives to ensure the quality of commodities for consumers during the holy month of Ramadan. He urged traders to adhere to rules, display rate lists at their trade centers, and cautioned vendors against violations.
The drive was aimed to control a fair and quality-driven market environment and curb overcharging as the community prepares for the auspicious month of Ramadan.
